Emma Nives and Pradip Kumar Maurya at the SAGA conference

Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Southern African Geophysical Association‘s (SAGA) annual conference in Windhoek, Namibia. The sessions were packed with insights, from cutting-edge geophysics research to practical applications, and the cultural immersion in Namibia was an added bonus.

The conference allowed us to meet and connect with brilliant minds and potential business partners from around the globe. We had some great discussions, sharing knowledge and discussing the advancements in Geophysics and related fields.

Pradip, our CTO, conducted an insightful workshop on Transient Electromagnetic (TEM) methods in geophysics, and despite not being a geophysicist, I gained valuable insights into our TEM systems and the technology at TEMcompany. It was also super exciting for me to present different applications for our TEM systems.

At the workshop, we connected with passionate university students from Namibia, Botswana, Tanzania, South Africa, and Cameroon, as well as professionals from mining companies, the Namibian Ministry of Mines and Energy, geophysics companies, and consultants. The feedback from my fellow workshop attendees highlighted how insightful and valuable they had found the session.

Pradip also launched our new dual-moment TEM system, the xTEM, which has an independent functioning transmitter with multiple receivers. There was keen interest and curiosity around the TEM systems, particularly in the mineral exploration sector.

It was equally exciting to finally meet the dedicated coordinators and organizers we’ve been collaborating with for the SAGA Conference 2024. The hospitality and professionalism of the organizers, Kathy, Marcia, Cathy, and Jenny, made it even more memorable.

I am super grateful for every new contact TEMcompany has made, and we look forward to following up on all the discussions and meetings.
